2024 Poultry Show

Buff Orpington Breed Class

Currituck County 4-H will be hosting a poultry show on Friday September 27, 2024. There will be multiple ways youth can participate. There will be an open class for Standard Laying Hens, Bantam Hens and a class of Roosters. There will also be a breed class. The breed class will be Buff Orpingtons that they purchase from the 4-H staff. This is the link to register https://2024bufforpingtonchicks.eventbrite.com   There is a $8.00 fee for youth to register for the Buff Orpington class.  Space is limited to participate in this class, so please register early.

This registration fee will cover the cost of 2 chicks. This may be paid online through eventbrite or you may pay with cash or check. Cash and check payments need to be paid within five days of your registration. If you are paying by check please make it payable to NCSU, and mail it to NCCE 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917. All participants must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2023 program year; the link to that portion of the registration process is https://v2.4honline.com .

Chicks will be picked up during a Basic Care of chicks workshop that will be held on June 13th. Youth will need to attend this workshop and bring a small box to transport their chicks home.

There will also be other workshops to help youth learn about caring and showing their chickens. One program will be on Backyard Flocks, and the other one will be on Showmanship and getting Show ready. There will be a separate registration for these workshops as well as the registration for the show.
